Since 1987, the Lakeland Cancer Care Center has been accredited by the Commission on Cancer of the American College of Surgeons. Only one in four hospitals that treat cancer receives this approval, which recognizes quality in comprehensive, multi-disciplinary care. The approval also ensures quality care close to home, access to cancer related information and support and the ability to participate in clinical trials of new cancer therapies. The Cancer Care Center undergoes a rigorous on-site evaluation and review every three years.
